Settling In

I am settling in with my new family, the Davis's, and so far all is going well. Nate and Sherri are my guardians and Bethanne and Jodi are my new siblings, they're both close to my age, so we're having a good time together. Life is very different for me here in Anchorage, the hectic schedule is just a start, and school hasn't even started yet. I am training with the cross country team, but I cannot compete against other schools because I have already graduated high school. A few days ago there was an ice cream social and I met a few people, hopefully I'll make some friends soon. I've met people, but so far haven't made actual friends. In a couple of days I will be attending a retreat at Victory Bible Camp with just about all of the other kids from Grace, and I have a feeling I'll get to know the other kids a lot better there.

Changing Perspective

Knowing that I am leaving in just over a month has changed the way I see every day things. Instead of looking through the windows and thinking, "Hmmm...another cloudy day," I think, "My goodness, what a lovely view! The mountains seem bigger and more majestic today!" I'm just soaking in all of the things that I've been submerged in for the past 17 years, it's like I can't get enough of it.
It will be so difficult to leave my family and friends, I will bet anyone that I'm going to cry when I get on that departing airplane. But I am also REALLY going to miss my dog, Trigger, he is 100% my buddy.

Intents and Purposes

So, in August I am going to Grace Christian School in Anchorage. I'll be there for the education and experience, and as I have always lived in Port Alsworth, I'm not sure how I'll fare in the big city. This blog is for all of the people back home (and elsewhere) who want to catch a glimpse of this country viking-ess experiencing one of the biggest culture shocks of her little life...
